After AA gave me the boot, I did indeed switch to AS -- and BA -- for earning. I don't want to go too far down this path because it's off-topic, I think.

As to the latter, that's basically it. Being in SE US, switching bulk of flights to AS is impractical. It's just a matter of convenience for the Mainly AA flights.
