The Marquette

I am planning a 5 night stay in March and wanted to book the Marquette ( a fine Hilton property) I remember it as one of the nicest hotels I have stayed at when I visited in November and wanted to book it again.

On the Hilton reservation page a stay from March 6-11 gives me a rate of $249 a night, however a stay from March 5-11 gives a rate of only $139 a night. It's actually cheaper to book a six night stay at the lower rate even though I will only be staying five nights. By the way I double-checked and it seems the rate is constant for the entire stay.

I am not sure what type of penalty their is for not showing up for your reservation, but (ethical considerations aside) I suppose I could call ahead and say my travel has been "delayed" and I won't be arriving until the next day.

Actually now that I think more about it, I'll try and call reservations directly and ask if they can give me the lower rate for the five day stay. I just find it odd that the rate can be so much lower by just arriving on a Saturday. Anybody out there have any other suggestions as to what I should do? Has something similar to this happened to you at other hotels?
