We had a three night stay here. I initially was a bit hesitant about the location, but the subway is only a quick walk away, and the bus station does connect to quite a bit. So while not a great location, not as cumbersome as I had somehow thought.

We checked in shortly before 2pm, and the room was ready. Not too much in terms upgrade, though the hallways of the upper floor seemed nicer and refurbished compared to the level of the gym. So I guess the higher floor and a bit of a view was the upgrade.

As a titanium member the choice were breakfast in the restaurant on the ground floor, in the lounge, and buffet style in the ball rooms down stairs. The hotel seems to have a decent tour group business, the busses pulling up late afternoon early evening, and moving on during the morning, and the buffet breakfast option seems mainly geared for those customers and is best avoided. The restaurant on the ground floor serves both a Japanese and Western set, pretty good, but as the restaurant is quite small, there can be quite a wait. The lounge breakfast basically offers most of the Japanese set, but is a bit more limited on the western options. It was the most calm option, and best option we had for breakfast, but if you are not keen on the Japanese elements for breakfast, the restaurant is probably the way to go.

The lounge was good for breakfast, the afternoon tea, and cocktail hour. The offering from 1pm to 3pm was basically just chocolate covered almonds, rice crackers and hot and cold drinks. The cocktail hour had warm and cold snacks, and proper champagne. So pretty good for a Prince Hotels lounge. The also offered a welcome drink of a propper cup of Kyoto macha or a glass of shiso juice.

The room was a good size for Japan, and relatively recently renovated, but nothing to get excited about. The bathroom did have some difficult to replace bones from it's quite Japanese past. Nothing bad, just not very modern looking.

Across the pond from the lounge, the hotel has a very traditional teahouse. It is worth a visit just to look, or they also do afternoon tea, or Japanese tea there.

For the price it is often available at it is solid option
