Swimming upstream is always a challenge, even in J. If I have an aisle seat in row 1 or 2, I can usually make it to my bag above row 3 or 4 before everyone else jumps up, but then I can’t get back to my seat to wait for the door to open, and am forced to stand awkwardly between everyone else that jumped up moments after I did. I have forgotten many items at my seat in these scenarios.

The lack of bin space above row 1 is indeed a first world problem, but it is a problem no less.
