Given how easy the travel credit and the PP restaurant perk were to use, until yesterday the CSR clearly stood out in comparison to both the Venture X's $300 must-be-used-in-the-portal voucher and the Plat's annoying coupon book approach to everything.

Today, the Venture X now stands out over the CSR with the 2% catch-all multiplier and the free AUs. And if you're a road warrior and lounge access is the most important feature to you, then you might very well be better off downgrading to the CSP in order to keep access to the Chase travel portal and get the Plat with its much broader selection of lounges - particularly if you're based on the West Coast.

Seems like a really odd move on Chase's part, but I guess you have to assume that they have some solid data indicating that they won't lose a lot of CSR cardholders or a bunch of downgrades to the CSP or a Freedom card because of this.
