Marriott Vacation Club, Waikiki, Hawaii [Master Thread]

A new Marriott Bonvoy property is opening this year on Waikiki:

Marriott Vacation Club, Waikiki on Marriott.com

Marriott Vacation Club, Waikiki on MarriottVacationClubs.com (with floorplans)

Marriott Vacation Club owners can book rooms with Abound points, but it's also already bookable on Marriott.com as another hotel choice on Waikiki. First availability is currently October 4, 2024. There's no resort fee.

The property is across the street from The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Waikiki Beach. They're both a distance from the actual beach. The location is quite central for access to shopping and dining.

There are three room categories:

— Studio, 1 King, Sofa bed - 548sqft / 49sqm
— 1 Bedroom Suite, 1 King, Sofa bed - 580sqft / 52sqm
— 1 Bedroom Suite, 2 Doubles, Sofa bed - 602sqft / 54sqm

The Studios are huge! The suites are not that much larger, but have a door between the living room and bedroom.

They all have a kitchenette with a decently-sized refrigerator, and with a microwave, a dishwasher, dishes, silverware, and glasses. It appears that sliding glass doors open to balcony railings, but there not true lanais with outdoor seating. It's likely most of the rooms will provide a glimpse of the ocean across Fort Debussy Park, at least if one stands against the railing and looks in the correct direction. The rooftop pool deck looks promising.

Marriott Vacation Club provides a 1,000 Marriott Bonvoy points as a Welcome Gift from Platinum Elite and above, but that's about where the elite benefits end. No breakfast. No late check-out. No upgrades. That makes sense for the brand, considering how timeshares work.

It's always good to have another choice. This will work well for some people. Others will prefer traditional resorts closer to the beach.
