As I understand it, the updated time is provided by scheduling, taking into account ATC input, ground handling availability, on-carriage movements, and everything before and after. I would normally expect to see a time revision a few hours before departure, rather than just over 1 hour. So I don't think it's as simple as getting boarding done earlier, they do want the aircraft moving as part of the bigger picture.
