Just had an one night stay this past weekend. While the hotel itself is still the same, somehow there's a less sense of generosity.
Checking in was straight forward. I booked a junior suite, and received exactly that. Still don't know what the secret handshake to unlock a welcome gift - the FD person did not even know that I am a returning guest. Also, no complimentary water at the front desk, although they are available in the room.
I was assigned a X23 junior suite. The view is toward other rooms, with a side view of the street. The downside of this particular suite was that the coffee and mini-fridge set up taking up the work desk, so the power plug is behind the fridge on the floor.
During check-in, the FD person informed me that Sparrow (Italian restaurant), as stated in the pre-welcome email. However, Cafe Figueroa is only open from 7am-3pm - so it's closed for dinner and evening drinks. They did provide a list of nearby restaurants and opening hours, including the bar at the nearby Indigo Hotel, which I find interesting.
Breakfast for Globalists is provided via voucher. Gone is the Globalist-only menu (well, they don't have one temporarily). The host incorrectly stated that Globalist voucher covers only 1 entree, as well as coffee or juice (FD confirms that it's both).
Here's the new breakfast menu:
This is the Full Breakfast:
Note that the hashbrown patty looks like from a frozen bag, and the "sausage" patty is really a burger patty, or a really underseasoned sausage patty. Bacon was crispy. Had to ask for ketchup, hot sauce, and butter for the toast.
The bartender was clearly new, and this was his first Full Breakfast served. Also, he mistakenly stated that the voucher only covers food, implying that there's no gratuity (which is incorrect - gratuities ).
FWIW, the Suite Life package is a good deal if you have a car - the discounted rate includes a confirmed junior suite or full suite and valet parking, and the rate is normally about $20 more than rate for standard room + valet charge.
