Apparently, “Corporate” had come this past week, and they are working to change things. As I was obviously upset (more so that they didn’t offer me the full set of choices initially), they gave me a different voucher, which I think is probably good for actual breakfast (will see in the morning).
See quote above for the odd breakfast experience here - I did end up receiving a delicious breakfast entree that was fully covered - I saw a Bonvoy Continental on the menu that was choice of bread and fruit and beverage or something like that - despite that, the fact I wasn’t even offered and then had to push back is likely the reason I ended up with full breakfast instead. It’s hard to recommend until the breakfast shenanigans get sorted out. If the continental sticks, it seems like a major downgrade from previous reports here in previous years.
Regardless of breakfast, I found the Industrialist to be fine - it was comfortable, but the wear on the finishes for such a new hotel is rather concerning and suggests either lower build quality or concerning maintenance and upkeep practices. Here are my bulleted impressions:
- Upgraded before arrival to a Studio, which is a corner room with small offshoot for a couch and TV
- Bed was comfortable - medium covers, plush pillows, medium or plush-ish mattress
- Shower was fine - pressure was slightly decent because of a heavy center stream, but temperature consistency was definitely a bit off
- Noise isolation from the outside on the 9th floor was absolutely horrible - tons of screaming heard from teenagers and others as if they were right outside my window
- As mentioned, lots of noticeable wear and tear on the furniture, hand prints on the wall paint, etc
- Arm chair had large stains of perhaps chocolate that weren’t cleaned upon arrival - I was able to wipe them with a wet tissue
- I did not experience any issues or slowness with the elevators
- Was offered late checkout proactively - no issue with 4 PM
- Welcome gift box of chocolate covered espresso beans, gummy bears, and nuts was nice, despite some of the beans spilling
- The sausage croissanwich and hashbrowns at breakfast were delicious - too bad they aren’t part of the normal breakfast benefit
I am not sure I would return unless they go back to a better breakfast benefit.
