I'm a little less sure footed on what happens if I miss a flight due to immigration being clogged but no flight delay, but logically it would seem that as I was in the airport on a single ticket within MCT I should be covered. I'll figure that out when I need to. I just need to connect up to a late BA flight home on the 18th so no time pressure.
Compensation definitely not IMO - immigration delays are clearly outside Iberia's control. Wasn't even considering that.
Ah, the TNG-AGP on the 18th would arrive 1500, the later BA departs 1645, The BA B2B thread-wiki says no "B2B" at AGP so that 1hrs45 at AGP is not comfortable, so not an option.
I agree logically IB will deal with hotel duty of care and flight rebooking due to immigration clogging (same concept as weather delays).
FWIW
OW Global Support is available in MAD apparently:
They’ll escort you through dedicated fast track lanes at immigration or security...In the event that you miss your connection, our team will help you get back on course, providing updated travel information, a new boarding pass, and, where applicable, assistance with overnight accommodations.
No idea how that works in reality though, and how being OWE+/GGL will be further prioritised.
Seems like Iberia puts some pax in
Melia Barajas (from reading reviews mentioning Iberia), looks OK, but still a PITA.
Wonder if they will let you have a drink at Dali before heading to the hotel, I don't think the standard 'Iberia package' at Melia includes booze.
