I was replying to a post which claimed that all hotels charge these taxes on award stays, and it explicitly mentioned IHG. I was not replying to any of your posts.

Some random hotels ignoring the rule doesn't make me wrong. I only claimed that per IHG T&C's, taxes are to be covered by the hotel. Based on your logic, upgrades aren't a benefit at Hilton because some hotels don't provide them. The claim was that all hotel chains require you to pay tax on award stays, which is not the case, at least IHG covers it. If some individual hotel isn't aware of the rules, or chooses to ignore them, it doesn't change anything and I believe this could be quickly rectified via customer services.

And a 4th I guess, the word "tax" as used here doesn't actually have some defined meaning. A tax levied on accommodation is different than a tax or fee levied on tourists, which is directed to be collected by lodging providers.
