Probably a minority opinion here, but I'm actually OK with that. Not what I opened this thread for, though.
It did occur to me meanwhile that part of the problem with my specific trip might've been that when SQ tagged my bag it was more than 24h before my last segment which they checked the bag onto. I definitely wasn't checked in to that flight yet. The automatic checkin triggering inbetween things may not have helped either.
