Is 200K one-way or roundtrip? If roundtrip, that is actually a good price in the current environment and with dynamic pricing. Miles are not worth nearly as much as they used to be, and airlines/credit card companies handing out miles like candies for kids.

Yes, you can purchase award tickets and cancel later if better (cheaper) awards come along.
