Yes, I understand the upgrade likelihood. I don’t typically fly hub to hub so I get upgraded to First Class a decent amount (~15%) even on Gold. It’s an expense I’ll be making anyway. Just wondering if I should move it up a couple weeks or not.

All that to say, OP your upgrade likelihood is going to depend where and when you are flying predominantly. That said, extraneous spend for a possibility of an upgrade doesn't mathematically pan out imo. If you are being pushed down the list as a Platinum by a bunch of Diamonds, the few extra MQD before Diamond is not going to push you up the list. Not sure if the Time Value of having that Cash in hand vs with Delta pans out.
