That's really good to know about the TPAC need to obtain awards. I had no idea about that, and now the search results make more sense.
I'll take a look into the hotel partners and see what kind of value the redemptions are. I used to try to use my miles for international biz class, since it's the best value, and sometimes 4-6 cents per mile, but at this point I'm willing to let them go for around their standard value.
Are these mile buying sites legit? Since I'm willing to cut ties with Aadvantage and even cancel my Addvantage credit card, I'm not too worried about being kicked off the program, but I don't know of other negative factors.

What program are you going to that does not have people start booking a year in advance. I am not a fan of AA but the only reason the grass looks greener is different manure.
No NONE of those programs are legit and they will come back after you when AA catches on and cancels the flight. You are playing with fire.
