Was a bit anticlimactic coming off an SPG Gold run in which I'd had truly memorable stays by paying a little extra for lounge access. Anyway, I digress, as this was thousands of years ago

Back to the present day, my last year as a (Marriott) Platinum in Vietnam, Indonesia and Malaysia was 8/10 for awesome suite upgrades (including the Turquoise Suite at JW Phu Quoc).
Are you friendly at check-in? Sometimes a smile goes a long way because i have always experienced the exact opposite. With over 43 nights YTD, i can count in 1 hand how many nights I have
not been upgraded to something meaningful this year.
This and last week alone, I have been upgraded to Presidential Suites and Villas as a Lifetime Tit.
Last week upgrade Presidential Suite
This week upgrade to Villa
Edit: I'm confusing 2 OPs on this thread.
OP #2, if you want upgrades, aim higher. Gold status is just a thank you for participating status. Like anyone in the USA can be Gold especially with the recently yearly double elite night promotion.
