There simply is no availability unless I book a year in advance. The only option is through Doha at 3x the points, and requires an overnight stay, and even that's nearly impossible to match up dates between BKK to DOH and DOH to anything in the US east coast. The AA site doesn't help at all with the BKK -> Doha -> US routes and won't combine them. I have to continually search BKK to DOH and DOH to the US (usually to PHL but am flexible) through multiple web browsers at the same time, with that horrible AA calendar that usually doesn't even appear.
Anyway, I've just about had it with them, and I have 400,000 miles that I just want to sell, buy something, or transfer to something like a hotel partner. I'm hoping for suggestions on where to find the most value/ease of disposal.
Thank you
Have you thought about positioning flights? Fly to HKG or NRT/HND first? Typically there is more availability where AA actually flies as opposed to an airport that is 100% dependent on code share. BKK is a leisure market - I'm sure you can find BKK-TYO for not a lot of cash.
