I just had a great stay at the LM and have another stay coming up at SGS. One interesting post on here said about Bangkok lounges: "I have no interest in braving a rugby scrum of low-budget tourists to fill up on pre-cooked, warmed over food" and recommended the SGS for a better experience. Which is really a strange thing to say since people paying for these decent hotels are not really Low-Budget tourists.. I guess some people are in leagues of their own and maybe don't even eat in the restaurant for a standard buffet meal with the second string rugby scrum crowd who don't even have lounge access. Anyway, LM offers breakfast in the restaurant in addition to the lounge (the Surawongse doesn't) and it was great. Afternoon snacks at LM are varried, but nothing too special (the Anthee's were a little better recently), evening 6-8 offerings were more substantial and enjoyed what they served. Devie at the LM lounge made me a cappucino and it was so much better than the automatic machine made one. I would say the quality of wine at SGS cocktail hour was much better on a prior visit. At LM lounge we had some passion fruit mocktails, but had gin added and they were super delicious. Breakfast at LM was very good with sparkling wine (not good, but had more than one) and a fresh coconut offered. I applied an Award Night for a corner suite, it was declined, as the suites looked to be fully booked, but the standard room was good enough. If you do enjoy lounge food the Ren had really good stuff about two years ago. I posted a link on here at the time. SGS is great and breakfast at Rosini's is a good experience. With two people it might be worth it for the better quality breakfast options and wines for the evening cocktail hours and at breakfast. SGS pool area is beautiful, but probably more difficult to get a lounge chair at SGS over the LM or Athenee. Did enjoy an evening swim at LM and the pool temp was so good. Athenee pool is large and beautiful and enjoyed it a lot. Didn't use the pool at the Ren. Here are some photos of LM a few days ago. It's going to be great whatever you do!
