Perhaps, I just had low expectations for my first hotel in Pittsburgh, but I left the Westin Pittsburgh feeling like this was a positive hotel experience. The property is definitely from another decade and is probably ready for a renovation at some point, but I’ve seen older. Here are my impressions:
- Upgraded the morning of arrival to a Corner Suite - upon check-in, they told me they placed me on the top floor in a Corner Suite based on the high floor preference in my Marriott account (nice)
- The suite has two separate rooms - what I imagine is a normal room with normal bathroom connected to a long hallway with a living room at the end
- Living room couch was quite comfortable
- TVs had latest Internet TV OS
- Bed was good - covers could be thicker, but the two soft pillows stacked on top of each other were great, and the mattress was nice and plush
- Shower pressure was fine / decent / good
- Liked that the shower curtain rod was curved - roomy shower
- Called down for more tissues - they brought up two boxes and made my bed while I was at breakfast (day of departure)
- Views were good and noise isolation internally and externally was good
- Brought a welcome gift of assorted packaged snacks - so excited about the Goldfish (childhood favorite)
- Offered late checkout proactively - no issue with 4 PM
- Elite welcome gift breakfast in 2nd floor restaurant is just the continental buffet (some scones, fruit, and cereal), but the full buffet is just a $4 upcharge - eggs, bacon, and pancakes were all good for a buffet standard - the waitress was friendly and personable
Overall, I would have no issue returning here, even without renovations.
