You can do a bit of homework if you want and check the day before to see if the hotel is book-able on the App. If it is, then it's unlikely it's sold out, so they should be able to accommodate you. There is no magic formula, no secret handshake, just common sense. Call and talk to a person, explain your situation, ideally do your homework in advance with regard to their availability, and then you will have your answer.
