United advertises upgrade benefits as a perk for elites. United should make it clear that deadheading pilots now have priority over high value customers who pay to fly United all the time on the upgrade lists. It seems like United and its employees should refocus on service and safety rather than perks that make the experience worse paying customers.
Is it just United pilots? I was on a flight yesterday day where a Frontier copilot was upfront. I suppose he could have paid for the seat.
