Correct — it is essentially a restricted flight credit with zero value if you’re looking at your “wallet”, but will have some sort of value once priced (I believe based on original fare rules?).

Did this for my wife a few weeks ago and was able to get way more value than I thought. I also tend to take snippets of the original pricing to get a sense of what the segment is worth.
