Sorry to disrupt your continuous discussion about the future of Brussels Airlines and BRU as a hub but I actually need some advice about the core subject of this thread - the impending strike next week. I have booked reward flights through United on Brussels for the 29th and received the e-mail from Brussels that flights can potentially be cancelled on Friday, 22/03. I reached out to them but even with a waiver in place, they are not offering any alternatives. I am now on Hold with Brussels' chat assistance but the hold seems quite long and I start losing hope I will get through to someone - given the current situation, that might be normal. The automated system instructed me to reach to United as its their booking. I feel like we're going in circles. Travel is in 5 days and at this point, I don't know if I'll be reaccommodated on alternative flights or not. I have made non-refundable hotel reservations and I have no insurance to cover that should something go wrong. So, what should I do? Be patient and wait for an official flight cancellation? Or hope that the flights will be operated as scheduled? I'm trying to explore other options but so close to the travel date, it's prohibitely expensive. It seems like a no win situation for me. Any advice would be appreciated. I don't know how many flights Brussels is scheduled to operate during that period but it seems that 2 days later after the announcement, they should have clarity of how many and which flights they will operate. Thank you!
