We've just flown LHR-DOH on QR, which arrived roughly on time, and then got on our next flight (DOH-SGN on QR), sat for a couple of hours while they try and fix something to do with the air conditioning and have now been bused back to the terminal awaiting a change of plane. These are QR prime flights (booked with Avios through QR).

Has this situation been brought within the 261 rules, or is it still outside Europe, non-European airline therefore nothing due if the delay continues?

I appreciate that even if the legal situation says compensation is due, actually getting it will be challenging.

Thanks.
If it was a single booking then all flights, including any changes, are treated as a "single unit of transport" and so you are covered for any (qualifying) delay or cancellation on onward legs. The CJEU judgment in CS and Others v České aerolinie a.s. refers; this is retained in UK jurisprudence as it is a pre-Brexit judgment.

As you say, getting the compensation from QR will be another matter.
