If they have rooms available I would be shocked if diamond members with point bookings don't get a villa with a private pool at check in ; this is just my opinion and not willing to take the risk personally.
they arent budging a dollar on overpriced room upgrades to the villa. You would think if this was the case they would hedge better and offer cash upgrades that are at least tempting (and not $1500 upgrade for a room that cost $2000). My guess is they just dont want people coming in on points. and that wont change for a few years.
