I guess ultimately that's a branding/perception problem that I have with Amtrak. Acela business is practically the same as NER coach. It's the same seat and service, just 10% faster and somehow that justifies a different branding and higher class of service. Airlines wouldn't get away with that.
Acela trains are also given priority over NER when things get dodgy. If I gotta be there by a certain time, I'll pay the premium.
