Visited Nobu last spring, not too long after its (re)opening.
Didn't stay or eat there, but did a walkthrough and enjoyed a cocktail at the roof pool.
I'm not the biggest Hyatt person ever, but i have to assume there's going to be a higher 'luxury' level going at this RAK PH if it ever gets itself open.
I've been to Nobu hotels both glorious (Santorini, Malibu) and truly pedestrian-midrange (Atlanta). This one falls in the middle somewhere.
The design is really nice - they were working with an unusually shaped tower to begin with. The common spaces look great, both 'cool' and classy at once. The pool/lounge/bar area is crowded, but has great drinks and views.
It's just more of a 'scene' than most of the local lux choices, and definitively a younger/more 'lively' scene than Mamounia or El Fenn. It made the MO - a hotel with a touch too much razmatazz for our tastes - feel like a silent buddhist retreat when we returned there from Nobu..
About the only minus point for us at Royal Mansour was that the untz/untz/untz/untz/untz/untz club-beats from the Nobu roof bar were super loud across the square on our riad roof terrace, till 10 or 11pm each night. The two properties are separated by at least 300 yards (and heavy traffic). Can't imagine how loud it must be within the Nobu itself.
I know that other Hyatt choices nearby may be few in RAK. Just know what you're walking into, particularly if you're staying for more than few nights. It's a cool, good-looking property. And as good a choice as any from which to recon the new PH. It's simply closer to an Edition/Proper/Alila type vibe than anything PH.
Thanks for your feedback, much appreciated!! I am not a Hyatt die-hard fan, I was jusr curious to visit it as it’s been a long-time coming.
i am actually splitting my stay in Marrakech to get a feel for different type of hotels and also as part of client research
We are doing a few nights in La Mamounia followed by a few nights in Nobu and then a few nights in a tented camp in Agafay dessert.
The idea was get a taster for pure bliss/luxury, one for the younger crowds and something with a more remote/dessert experience
