Edit sorry I didnt read the op correctly but still the question stabds why would you NOT get the tier night for the redeemed GOH award even if its in your name? Is it in the T&Cs?
My Concierge confirmed you want to keep the GOH in your account, and they can apply them to reservations made by other people...because if you transfer and that person were to cancel, it's then stuck in their account (less flexibility).

This was somewhat surprising to me, but a nice benefit I have to say.
