I flew home from Taiwan yesterday (Mar 22) after a week in Taiwan and had planned to use the Eva Air lounge at TPE like I usually do when returning fromTaiwan. I have been going to Taiwan a couple times a year for almost 10 years. I was denied access and directed to the Plaza Premium Lounge. The woman working the door at the Eva Lounge told me United contracted access with the Plaza Premium Lounge starting this past Decemember (2023).

The Plaza Premium lounge is a pretty significant downgrade compared to the Eva Air lounge. Food, seating, beverage, Wifi, electrical outlets - all were inferior to the Eva Air lounge. I like the Eva Air lounge as there is usually plenty of room to find a work area to use my laptop with an electrical outlet.

Anyone else have a similar experience? The Star Alliance Lounge Finder for TPE still lists Eva Air, China Air, Singapore Air lounges as available to Star Alliance members. FWIW I am 1K and had been upgraded to Polaris for the TPE-SFO flight.

Could I have just told the woman I prefer the Eva Air lounge? I'll be headed back to Taiwan in August so it would nice to know what my options are. I had sent an email to UA 1K Voice but received a reply without any content of substance.
