Closing a Japanese ANA credit card nukes your entire AMC account

Well, this sucks. I had an old ANA credit card that I wasn't using, so I decided to cancel it and quit paying the annual fee. This was extremely simple through SMBC's website, just had to check a few boxes. Then went online today to check an award reservation I had made, and my whole AMC account is gone. Can't log in, can't view anything. Mileage balance inaccessible. Award reservations thankfully are still there -- good thing I had the booking codes saved to AwardWallet.

It turns out that this is how their idiotic system is "supposed" to work; if you want to keep using AMC after cancelling an ANA credit card, you have to call ANA (note: 45 minute hold time as of right now) and get a new mileage account set up and then have everything transferred over. Whether this can be done after cancelling the credit card, I don't know. Maybe I will find out next week if the hold times are less ridiculous.
