90 minutes will not be long enough at MAD. You will arrive, go through passport control (I'm guessing American passport so that queue is far longer), take a train to T4, and then do transfer security. Boarding will close on your connecting flight about 20 minutes before departure. So, with anything more than a 30-minute delay you will probably miss your connecting flight. IB is not obliged to put you on the next flight when you book separate tickets.

If you aren't flying to a Schengen country you might stay at T4S, which saves you the passport control but not the security...

Oops, sorry! ill be more concise in future, appreciate responses. (the dfw part was to see if anyone knew a workaround for the no IB precheck at DFW ..if there was one but np)

Flying MAD-AMS on Iberia Biz like Biz on previous flight. both booked with avios but different airlines (BA then IB). I figured being first off plane, no check in luggage, and iberia and biz could make the connection work. ill let ya know!
