Because this is a fun way to spend a weekend for us, bonus if the destination is interesting (even if only for a 24 hour mileage run stopover). Double bonus if the MR isn’t in Y although we are willing to do it in Y if the math works.
1.8 PQP/$ is pretty good to be honest. Do you have the time for a nice vacation in the summer? If so, check out post #12 on this thread that I posted.
EgyptAir business class deals between JNB and CAN still exist at 2.6 PQP/$ (found one May 13-18 for example), and you can sandwich that between a nice round trip ORD-JNB on Swiss W fares to earn a ton of PQPs. Swiss used to give Y/N mixed cabin fares (search on their website), pick those only if you can get them for < $1.5k to maintain a ratio above 2 PQP/$. You also have some flexibility as others have found deals to destinations other than CAN from JNB on the same EgyptAir flight.
