Unfortunately the transfer desk is no longer manned and even the security checkpoint might not be opened during certain off peak hours.

I had a JX to CX connection a few weeks ago and thankfully I did online check in and got an e-boarding pass. I arrived TPE around 7pm and connecting to 9pm flight to HKG.
The problem is that the security checkpoint was closed, and I ended up using the phone at the empty transfer desk calling CX. The phone was picked up quickly and the agent asked if I need a paper boarding pass. I said no but I told her that the checkpoint was closed. She apologized and told me that she would send an officer to open the checkpoint for me. She told me expect a 15 minutes wait, but after a quick stop at the restroom, an officer came to open the checkpoint for me after about 10 minutes

Since I like to keep a paper boarding pass, I just asked the agent to issue me one later in the lounge. No problem at all!

However, I highly recommend you having an electronic or home print boarding pass handy. It will just make your life a bit easier.
