You can't make your phone a hotspot as that same wifi is needed to connect to AA wifi. But, there are two ways to connect a PC to wifi using TMO.

1) USB tether as described upthread
2) changing your browser mode (also described upthread) to emulate a iPhone or Android phone.

That said, TMOs free wifi on AA has been getting better and better. We bounced off the low point of gogo and it's got pretty wide coverage now. I'm at the gate in PIT and on it right now.
