This got me worried. On the Qatar Airways page about canceling Award booking, a "redemption fee" is not mentioned anywhere. But on their this page about 'Fare conditions' - it reads:
An additional redemption booking fee* per sector** is applicable: Economy – US$ 25 - Business – USD$ 50 - First – US$ 75
*Booking fee excludes taxes and surcharges. The booking fee is only applicable on Qatar Airways flights. It is not applicable on partner airline flights. The booking fee is non-refundable.
On the same page under 'Refund conditions,' only the $25 fee is mentioned, nothing about a 'redemption booking fee' not being refundable.
I'm still waiting for the refund to process to see how much I will get back - but I'm starting to worry Qatar will keep $140 + $25 - which would be quite a hefty cancellation fee, bordering on false advertising, as you really have to go digging in their terms to find this, with all their pages about cancellation just mentioning $25. I hope my worry is unfounded - does anyone else have any data points on this?
Does QR still charge those per-segment redemption booking fees? Have they come back? I thought QR eliminated them a year or so ago.
