Report from a recent 1 night stay
Contrary to reports of their demise, generous upgrades still seem to be on the table at St Regis Bal Harbour.
I'm currently Platinum (and lifetime Platinum next year!). Just returned from a wonderful Monday night stay here. Booked a standard room reward for 100,000 points (85,000 Bonvoy CC cert + 15,000 add-on). The day before, I opened the booking in the app and noticed the room description now said Royal Oceanfront 2 bedroom Suite. Cash price at the time for that room was $3,450/night. Needless to say the room was spectacular with 2 bedrooms, 3 balconies, 3 full bathrooms, and a living and dining space.
Arrived around 12pm for the "sit down checkin". Asked for late checkout, was able to immediately grant 2PM, and said to check back in the morning to see if they could do better. Room was not ready, but our luggage was whisked away and they escorted us down to the pool along with a quick lesson in elevator operation. We enjoyed the time at the pool but the record setting heat was enough for us by 4pm. I went back to the front desk to find they were swamped with arrivals. Luckily after a few were cleared out, they grabbed the envelope containing my keys for me and apologized for the delay. Luggage arrived while we were still exploring the room.
In the morning, breakfast was just as awesome as previously described here. Total bill was $117 with tax/service charge, but fully comped by Platinum breakfast benefit.
Front desk was able to extend checkout to 3pm, which was just about perfect for our 5:55 flight out of FLL. No surprise housekeeping visits earlier and keycards continued to work through our checkout.
Resort fee was $55, we used the bike rental and the beach chairs and intended to use the morning Yoga but weather didn't agree.
Overall, wonderful stay and great recognition of Platinum status and honoring its benefits.
