Historically, this was not a problem. AC has not announced any changes or changed any of its published policies. It's possible you just ran in to the wrong agent who decided to make up their own rules. Did it seem like they did some research before turning you away? Or were you perhaps turned away because the lounge was full and they weren't allowed any pass holders?
