I find it totally incomprensible that we allow various countries to use our e-gates without being fingerprinted, when I have been fingerprinted when I go to the USA (which creates delays) and will quite soon be fingerprinted when I go to Europe (which will create huge delays). Americans and European can sail through our e-gates without any hassle whatsoever, and without fingerprints or intrusive questions.
The weak attitude of the UK government does not help. It should be tit-for-tat. The last time I went to Spain I spent an hour in the non-EEC queue (which will be 2-3 hours later in the year when EEC visas and fingerprinting are introduced for UK passport holders), but a Spanish passport holder can sail through the UK e-gates in less than 30 seconds.
The UK government seem to be accepting of us being treated as a third world nationality when we travel, but is totally unwilling to give us any priority when we come back home.
