I think the issue that is more acute is the active segregation of local and visitor in any jurisdiction that is more unique to Hawaii and other locales around the world. And treating them differently in society.

I ask any Hawaii local that when they travel to the mainland if they feel OK with being charged double for entering state parks, parking at attractions, charged higher prices for food or lodging plus extra taxes....etc...... I think most would feel exactly the same way we do when we look to travel to Hawaii. You cant have your cake and eat it too.
Agree 100%. The Circle Waikiki charged a 100% tax and also a $49/night resort fee. Waimea told me that I could not renew my membership because I’m not kaimaina. Spending my travel budget elsewhere in the future.
