Mercifully, I haven't flown longhaul economy in years, but when I did on BA I remember its being intensely uncomfortable. If I had to fly Y again, I'd definitely go for NZ, AA, MH or one of the other carriers offering 34" pitch. There are places extra inches are invaluable - and that's one of them!
