Another question from my recent BA flight from LHR-IAD...why are the economy class seats so narrow? On the 747, the arrangement is 3-4-3, the exact same as on UA 747s, but on BA the actual seat seems to be narrower. The effect is that there is very little width, and I was rubbing shoulders the entire time with my seatmates. UA's 747s have never posed this problem for me (even excepting the presence of Economy Plus and its generally increased comfort). Why does BA make their seats so narrow when their layout is the same? Thanks for any insight.
