Just a few things in response to the above few points for some clarification.

I clearly missed the no lounge part though i have tried a dummy booking now im home and can see it. I would never have thought in all honesty a First/Business class ticket would have a no lounge option. Cheaper tickets in classy airlines are normally restrictive of cancellation or amendments but ive never ever travelled in Business with anyone in last 20 years and not had lounge access.

The 2nd issue started with my usual visit to 1st class lounge who advised i didnt have first class access and to try Al Mourjan North who advised the same and that i needed to go to Al Mourjan south and pay the fee for access which i did. I pointed out my ticket and status but was told the silver status didnt give me access and that i could pre book a lounge on return. Quite why i wasnt told about the "silver lounge" at this point, im not sure.

So on the return i went to the Shololongolo lounge at JNB and again they told me my ticket didnt entitle me to entry, my lounge booking also didnt entitle me and neither did my "Ruby" status so ended up paying to get in there though it wasnt expensive.

In relation to changing my final destination, ive done that before on BA. In fact last time i was in the US and was due to fly back to Doha, they changed it to Dubai for me no issues at all. Noweher anywhere did i say i expected this for free, so not really sure where that came from. BA have changed it a few times and each time ive paid a change fee and once there was an additional fare which i was also happy to pay. The Dubai flight was cheaper when booking actually. But it was a tighter turnaround and each of my last 3 flights from JNB to DOH have been a) LATE and b) Picked up by a bus. So with wife with me this time i didnt want to be running like a looney trying to catch a DXB flight so took the Sharjah flight 2 hours later for a little extra breathing space given previous tardiness. Our flight was 20 minutes early so i thought great, lets see if we can get on DXB flight and i would have happily changed to Economy or paid a little extra. They refused to even look at it.

I forgot to also add that as usual, on the way out, the DOH>JNB leg was loaded by bus from the usual gate. The last 3 times, Business class sat in departures until everyone was on the plane then loaded last. This was due to waiting on the special buses we were told. When boarding was called and Economy went to board, we went to the queue and they asked me to step aside and wait for business boarding again. I politely refused and said i was happy to get on the eoncomy bus and there was some confusion but eventually they let us do that.

My wife and I sat alone in Business barring 1 disabled passenger and their partner, as Economy was all loaded first only for Business passengers to come at the back.

Ive genuinely not seen anything like that in any other Business travel and thats now the 4th time its happened at the exact same gate. Qatars admin is a shambles in my opinion. It just doesnt match the First Class service of their ACTUAL on board product and staffing, whom without, wouldnt have a penny of my business.
