Lindner Koln am Dom

Just did 2 night at the Lindner Koln am Dom as a Globalist. I booked 2 rooms in my name, one for my parents and one for me. Their room had 2 bottles of water and of beer at check in, mine did not but did get water the 2nd day. Breakfast was free and better than a typical US Hyatt Place but not great. The rooms are not up to Hyatt Place standards, however, they are more like La Quinta/Motel 6/Red Roof Inn level. The parking garage is very small and shared with the rest of the building so only about 20 spaces for the hotel, possibly fewer. As this is a German budget business hotel, I think most guests drove here as the garage was packed the first night. The 2nd night when we returned it was full and we were told to park a few blocks away. Neither parking was comped with Globalist status which was very annoying. If it isn't the hotel's parking, don't list the hotel as having parking! Every hotel on earth as some unrelated parking somewhere nearby, that is not the same thing as the hotel having parking.

The lobby flows into a restaurant called Green Smoke (no doors, just walk to the right of he desk). This restaurant is listed as the hotel's restaurant in the app and is where breakfast takes place. The napkins on the tables all say Lindner Hotel. We arrive late so ate at this restaurant and then asked to bill it to the room. "We aren't part of the hotel" she said! Bizarre.

Room was very dated, reminded me of staying in a La Quita in the late 90s on family roadtrips. Room was fairly large but no view (3rd floor). Unfortunately I did not take any photos.

Pros
-Cheap
-Earn elite night credits

Cons
-Globalist benefits aren't well-honored, no free parking, may or may not get water, seemingly no room upgrade, etc. Free breakfast, though
-Parking is 18 Euros at the offsite location, not sure what my dad was billed for the first night where we parked in the hotel's not-the-hotel's garage
-May have to park several blocks away
-Very dated and well-worn decor/fixtures (e.g. shampoo bottle mounted to shower wall kept falling down, all cloth items in room faded, etc)

I cannot imagine staying here again unless I was traveling with companions who needed the cheapest possible stay.
