Totally different: aa doesn’t use Amadeus pnr so it won’t be recognised by mh, ba etc when you enter it. You need to call aa and ask them for either the ib pnr (use it directly) or an Amadeus pnr if there is one (different but normally linked to the ib one). However for people booking on most airlines (Amadeus is by far the system used by most) the mh trick is a good one.
