In the event that you want to consider flights as part of a multi-modal itinerary, you can go to the trouble of looking up flights, and then doing transit searches for your journeys to and from the airports, and then comparing it to the train options by doing another google maps search for the same route. To me, that falls short of Google's stated mission to "organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful."
