I would guess a flight to BNA would have connecting passengers on it who may be screwed when they are delayed getting into BNA. Some of them could also have been IRROPS rebooks. You are no more special than them.
If this flight was arriving too late for any connections to be made, then yes they could have held the flight for you. Otherwise, expecting them to hold all the other passengers and possibly screw up their connections is awfully entitled.
