Yea this is interesting instead. Just like yourself, I went inside the Pier F lounge, locked my luggage, grab some lunch, shower, then went outside to the information desk to ask to go outside. I was escorted to an escalator down through a small door/hallway and went through immigration just like that. Went back into the airport after I visited The Peak and the surrounding area then headed back to the airport, so not sure if something has changed.
