Ran into this myself, Asiana award made with United points. Even with a login and able to see my booking, it wouldn't let me go into seat selection. United's website surprisingly did allow me to make the change, so you could try looking it up on Lifemiles (or even United's) site and see otherwise the dreaded phone call.
Just ran into this as well. When booking, United showed the seat map for the Asiana leg and allowed me to select it. But once it ticketed, the seat was not showing as assigned.
I tried Asiana website but could not get it to pull up the booking, even with the Asiana locator number.
Tried calling, but message says too busy and auto hangs up.
Tried via the United website again, and this time it assigned and stuck. Fingers crossed.
