This is another supervisor issue. I have had companions moved to the elite zone even when they are on a separate itinerary (and, therefore, PNR). It takes the agent some time to do this but they can do it. However, because it takes some time the NW agents will usually try to tell you it can't be done. I'm not sure what training the NW reps get but it would seem that at least half of it amounts to instructions on how to get the customer off the phone as soon as possible, regardless of what the customer wants. This is one of those situations where polite persistence will pay off.
