You can check the anyday rewards calendar and compare cash rates in different dates to maximize the value, but Hertz made it difficult to utilize all those points after several unannounced devaluations. I personally switch most of my leisure rentals to National, maybe it's a bit more expensive, but I do get better cars with lower mileage at most airport locations, and free days that can be used to cover more premium cars and one-way rentals.
